'Journey through the Market'
For 138 years Melburnians and tourists have had a love affair with the Queen Victoria market. During my studies, I frequented the market weekly in early 2016, in a hope to capture and portray the people, the architecture; the community and the enduring, but sometimes fragile, interactions that all make up the Queen Victoria Market.
In July 2015, the City of Melbourne produced a master plan for the renovation and redevelopment of the market by 2026. Both traders and shoppers fear that the market’s authentic character and heritage will not be protected. With the changing face of the market in mind, it is important to capture this moment.
Special thanks to Janet Spink who joined me along the way in telling the Market's story.
